The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme was established by the Hungarian Government to promote the internationalisation of Hungarian higher education and to attract excellent foreign students from all over the world, who can develop personal and professional ties with Hungary while receiving a high quality education in the heart of Europe. The Stipendium Hungaricum Mentor Network mentors are responsible for the peer support and integration of foreign students coming to Hungary with the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme.
The annual SH Mentor Conference was held this year on the 15th of June at the Budapest University of Technology. Invited guests were Dr. István Perosa, Head of the Stipendium Hungaricum Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Richárd Bodrogi, Director General of the Tempus Public Foundation, Dr. László Gergely Vígh, Director of Foreign Language Education at BME, Marcell Eszterhai, President of HÖOK. In addition, ambassadors and embassy counsellors representing approximately 16 countries attended the event.
The evening continued with the award ceremonies for Mentor of the Year, Senior Mentor of the Year and Leading Mentor of the Year. In addition, there were photo and video competitions and a round table discussion on the experiences of students in doctoral programmes. During the conference, participants had the opportunity to evaluate and exchange views on the 2023/24 academic year in an informal setting. The event closed with a performance by SH students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and a presentation by the winner of the MentorFactor 2024.
In the academic year 2024/25, the University of Nyíregyháza will be represented by two students of Community Management, Nóra Kozák and Anna Kukucska Viktória, in the HÖOK SH Mentor Network.
